Meet Dr. Leiss
Genuine. Compassionate. Artistic.
As an orthodontist, I like knowing I have had a positive impact on each patient’s life. It is an honor to enhance a smile: making it more attractive and healthier and developing a relationship with the patient and their families during their treatment time.
My goal is quality over quantity. As an artisan in orthodontics, I am not here to sell braces. I am here to establish a result driven game plan before initiating treatment. It is very rewarding to work with the result minded patient to achieve a smile that will last a lifetime.
Having practiced for almost 30 years, I am now seeing the children of some of my earlier patients. It’s gratifying to have relationships that span generations within a family!
I grew up knowing I wanted to be a dentist. Once I was in dental school, I found myself drawn to the orthodontic specialty. It is the perfect blend of science, medicine and artistry. The additional benefit is seeing patients who want the care I offer and are vested in their treatment and outcome. If I hadn’t become an orthodontist, I would likely have gravitated toward being a master carpenter or builder: I like working with my hands and creating lasting beauty.
I attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Remaining at the university, I completed a challenging orthodontic residency and received my certificate in orthodontics.
Dental school and the orthodontic residency gave me a solid foundational understanding of oral health and the mechanics of tooth movement. However, orthodontics is a constantly evolving specialty: ongoing research leads to new methodologies and technologies.
I stay current on the latest developments through continuing education courses, lectures, and meetings, and regularly review scientific literature.
Beyond the Practice
If I’m not seeing patients, I’m usually found with my family. Dayna, my wife of more than 33 years and I were high-school sweethearts. We have four children: Son Jory, his wife Cristen, and our granddaughter Lennon, our daughter Cree and her husband Oliver, and sons Jamison and Jefferson.
I truly love being at home with my family. Whether I’m working in the yard and cutting the grass or we’re relaxing by the pool, it’s always an enjoyable time. I also love eating out, and to balance that, I work out five days a week.
“If you are looking for an orthodontist in the Exton area, Dr. Leiss is the one for you! I cannot say enough about this office. The office is very clean and has sea life pictures on the wall, which has a very calming affect. In addition, because Dr. Leiss has a mild nature, he always makes my daughter feel very comfortable. From the beginning he not only explains his plan to provide the best outcome but also listens to his patients as well. He has the BEST staff! They are extremely welcoming, very professional and accomodating! What more could you ask for?” Thank you, Leiss Orthodontics!”
“My daughter, Dana, got her braces on about 18 months ago. When we first went to visit Hendrix Orthodontics (because they had come so highly recommended!), we sat down with the staff to discuss payment options. Having recently lost my job, I knew it would be a challenge to make the monthly payments, so I explained my situation to the staff, and they were “Wonderful” about it and really accommodated my specific ability to pay. Each visit, the office staff was friendly, courteous, and exceptionally accommodating in everything. Several times I had to change appointment times and/or dates because of Dana’s school activities, and they never gave me a hard time about it. They go out of their way to accommodate personal schedules for families. Today…Dana got her braces off and she looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Dr. Hendrix did such an outstanding job with her teeth, treating her like she was the only patient each time she came in. He really does treat his patients like they’re important, not just another number! I would (and already have!) recommend Hendrix Orthodontics to everyone and anyone who asks me about it! How often is it that you actually enjoy visiting a doctor’s office??!! This is one office that makes every visit pleasant and enjoyable because of the outstanding staff ‘and’ Dr. Hendrix! Thank you all for a wonderful experience!”
“We will continually recommend your practice to our PA friends. Thank you for your professionalism and high ethics.”
“Thank you for straightening my teeth. It has been so neat to watch them fall into place and that that the braces are coming off, it’s so amazing to have a smile that is straight. You have all been so welcoming and ready to help during the past two years, Thank you so much.”
“Natalie’s teeth look beautiful! We cannot thank you enough, really. I know that you have told us to “stop” with the gift cards, but it is such a small way to express our gratitude. Your kindness and generosity still humbles us. May the Lord continue to prosper your practice. May He use it to reach the lost and glorify His name. It is evident that this is your heart. Thank you for your faithfulness.”
